Achievements of 2007, aims for 2008

Last year I wrote that my aims for 2007 were to get a relationship, to learn to drive, and to get spiritual director.

To update you: I am in a relationship now, I am learning to drive, and I still haven't got spiritual director.

So for 2008 I need to:

Pass my driving test.
Get a spiritual director.
And get a job, like being a proper minister and thing.

So just what are your chances of finding a suitable "spiritual director" within the British Unitarian community?

Not very likely at all, Robin. Spiritual direction is something that isn't really part of our faith life right now. I hope that changes in the future.

Well it was very much on the general topic of YouTube videos about people who are discriminated against due to their religious beliefs and practices. . . Are you limiting the topic of that thread only to discrimination against Muslims? Can I possibly slip it in here as being on topic to the current *spiritual direction* (or lack thereof. . .) of Montreal Unitarian U*Us.

Happy New Year anyway Stephen. It looks like it's off to a rip roaring start for that bane and scourge of the whole-wide U*U World the dreaded Emerson Avenger. . . Come to think of it, it is now being insinuated by at least one Montreal Unitarian U*U that I am something of a terrorist. ;-)

Needless to say I am not the least bit surprised to hear your candid response that spiritual direction is not really part of British Unitarian faith life right now.

What does it mean to be non-creedal?

Steve Caldwell says "The problem here isn't humanism vs. theism for theist Unitarian Universalists -- it's the non-creedal nature of Unitarian Universalism" This is a good point. LOST and theology: who are the good guys?

***Spoiler alert*** I'm continuing some theological/philosophical reflections while re-watching the series LOST. One of the recurring themes in LOST is the idea of the "good guys" and the "bad guys." We start the series assuming the survivors (who are the main characters) are the "good guys" and the mysterious "Others" are definitely bad guys. What is Radical Christianity?

Radical Christianity is about encountering the God of love . It is first and foremost rooted in the discovery of a universal and unconditional source of love at the heart of reality and within each person. God is the name we give to this source of love. It is possible to have a direct and real personal encounter with this God through spiritual practice.
