Why go to church?

I agree with your position on why one should go to church. I feel that "why belong to a church community?" is more fitting. It raises the question of how to include those who want to receive spiritual nourishment and pastoral guidance, but choose not to go to church on a Sunday ( maybe because they don't feel it relates to them), or do not have the luxury of being able to attend on a Sunday (perhaps due to work, family or other personal commitments).

As an aside, I'm now able to be part of a Unitarian community, but during a period I had conflicting commitments, I was able to grow spiritually from reading and contributing to your blog, so kudos to you, Stephen.

Anonymous, twelve minutes would actually be considered quite short for a sermon in the Unitarian tradition.

But you're certainly right that when compared to multimedia available on the web, a sermon can seem rather long and boring. I don't have much of an answer to that yet.
